Our American Bresse are specifically bred to produce  exhibit specific traits while breeding to the Standard of Perfection (SOP).

Origin:

  • The original Bresse chicken comes from the Bresse region of France, where it is highly prized for its flavor and tenderness. American Bresse chickens are the American version, bred with the intent to replicate the distinctive characteristics of their French counterparts.

Appearance:

  • American Bresse chickens are often quite striking in appearance. They typically have a pure white plumage,  blue legs and a unique, bright red comb.

Meat Quality:

  • One of the most notable aspects of American Bresse chickens is their meat. The chickens are prized for their tender, juicy, and flavorful meat. The birds are typically fed a special diet of grains, herbs, and other specific foods, which enhances the quality and taste of the meat. The meat is often described as having a delicate and rich flavor, with a fine texture. It is frequently compared to high-end gourmet poultry like foie gras.

Eggs Production : On average, American Bresse hens will lay around 150 to 200 eggs per year. This is relatively moderate compared to other commercial breeds like the Rhode Island Red or Leghorn, which can lay upwards of 300 eggs annually.

Temperament: American Bresse chickens are generally known to have a calm and docile temperament
